Mental Model Map
As first step, we prepared a mental model map study that covering the traditional shopping process with my UX Researcher colleagues as a team. It was an important work to transfer the experience of the traditional shopping process into the practice and we started to get the first insights.
Netnography / Feedbacks / UX Expert Review
In the next step, we started to examine customer feedback on the internet from different sources and compile important points. In addition, we examined the uses of the Hot Jar service that currently used. This gave us important insights into user behavior prior to user interviews during the research process of the project. As another step, we conducted a UX Expert Reviews where we evaluated the existing application with the first insights we obtained.
Personas / Interviews
Meanwhile, target personas were formed then we were ready to prepare the right questions and make user interviews with the outputs that we obtained. After reaching the appropriate personas for the target audience, we conducted some user tests. During the test process, CarrefourSA team monitored the test live. These tests allowed us to validate the insights we had gained and design process has begun.
Some Interview Findings
- It is not possible to return to the previous step in sections such as adding addresses, selecting delivery time, payment after confirming the basket.
- Redirects on pages are missing.
- I can see where the courier is in other apps. My estimated delivery time is more obvious.
- I did not realize that there was a shipping charge at first, it surprised me to see it at the payment stage.
- I constantly see products with campaigns on the home page. I forget my needs. I see more campaigns than I need.
- Why do I pay the shipping fee again? (Description missing)
- The procedures I will do to cancel my order are too many and complicated. There is a lot of text. That’s why I don’t shop from here.
Analysis
Benchmark
After getting to know our user as a result of the research process, we made benchmarks for competing brands which is the last step before starting the design.
Flowchart
As a result of this process, we crated the first flow of our product. After discussing this flow with the customer teams in detail and finalizing it, we switched to the wireframe stage.
Design
Wireframe
We started the UI process after the 5 version wireframe process for 3 different scenarios and a prototype. Because the CarrefourSA application would offer two services unlike its competitors. A planned shopping delivered at the time you specify or fast delivery that you receive instantly within 40 minutes. Whichever of these options they choose, it required us to study different openings and transition options in detail in order to provide a fluid experience to the user.
Conclusion
Our design, which UI work was also completed, was implemented as a result of the software development process. It can be accessed through App Store and Google Play. Carrefour mobile app is 2 award-winning project and now one of the most popular online grossery application in Turkey.
